NRed Hook, Brooklyn

DARKNESS COMES, endorsed a multi bike tool a few posts back, well now we took a vote, and the best bar for day drinking/eating is easily by 1000 points, BROOKLYN ICE HOUSE, in Red Hook. The best pulled pork sandwiches in all of New York, and they’re 5 bucks for two, then you order the Steve Dore which is a shot of Evan Williams, and a PBR served in this nice little jacket to keep the cold in. This place is great.
If you never leave Manhattan, or Williamsburg I feel sorry for you. You’re selling your life short. Go to Red Hook, buy some goods, have a good time, no ones gonna judge you. Walk to the waterfront, clear your lungs.

http://www.theresident.net - In 2008, Ikea came to Brooklyn, covered in a cloud of controversy. Residents thought it would ruin the neighborhood, taking up too much waterfront real estate, causing traffic nightmares and sucking the culture out of their turf. Ikea promised to create jobs and a state-of-the-art park for residents to enjoy. Of course, Ikea won the battle and moved in. The controversy died out. Four years later, what does the neighborhood look like?

Other Red Hook editor says: This is a video is a load of horseshit. You want 90s Red Hook? Good luck to you.

The view of the water from Red Hook, on a gloomy and poetic day.
(I think I’ll go to the same place every day.)
